Can we just say that Radioactive by Imagine Dragons was an extremely well done song that even to this day, even the amount of plays that song has played over the course of over a year, that the song is still great. At the Grammy’s earlier in 2014, Imagine Dragons played Radioactive featuring Kendrick Lamar which is a very talented rapper. Kendrick brought a whole new vibe to Radioactive which if Radioactive wasn’t great already, Kendrick made it even better. Imagine Dragons don’t change anything of their tune but when it transfers to Kendrick’s solo, it does a couple drum hits and a mini symphony which personally was an excellent way to translate into a total new vibe. Kendrick starts his verse with,
“Bury me alive, bury me with pride
Bury me with berries, that forbidden fruit and cherry wine
Thank you berry much, but tonight’s my night and I’m Barry Bonds”
which he repeats the word bury or berries a lot, which the way he did it to flow was in my mind, brilliant. it’s so catchy when you’re rapping along with him to the song.
as he continues to rap in the song he starts to pace a little faster and more aggressive which really builds up tension which makes you crave for more.
my favorite part in the ENTIRE song is when he starts aggressively yelling this verse,
Tater tots on my shotgun, now I gotta pop one at the stars
Sky’s the limit, I gotta finish as the first rapper on Mars
Mark my word, Imma make my mark, even when they start their Marshall Law
Even when these martians alienate, my mental state is still at heart”
TATOR TOTS is just so random and everytime i hear it i yell it loud. it’s just so random yes it flows ridiculously well.
he ends the song basically just shouting extremely fast,
“Wishin’ good luck on my enemies, all of my energy go to the almighty God
I could drown in a bottle of Hennessy, fuck your amenities, I’m gettin’ better with time
which is one of those things where you cant rap along as fast but yet you understand all what he says.
at the end of Kendrick’s solo the song ends in around a minute long beat jam session with a guitar solo and Imagine Dragons sing radioactive and then it cuts off.
this song, is always one of my favorites.
highly recommend listening to Kendrick and Imagine dragons more often. If they did a concert with them both clashing in songs, i would probably die and go to heaven. It is THAT good.
